著者のマークさんは

イギリスのすぐ近く

ヨーロッパ西端に位置しています。

 

彼はアイルランドで4年間

経営学と経済学を学び

 

その後イギリスの

オーガニック食品の会社で

6年間働きました。

 

そこで食品業界の闇を見て

・環境破壊
・資源争奪戦

 

お金にまみれた競争社会に

心身ともに疲れ切ってしまった彼は

Ireland is a country in Europe,
located very close to the UK,
on the western edge of the continent.

He studied business administration and economics in Ireland for four years,
and later worked for six years at an organic food company in the UK.

There, he witnessed the dark side of the food industry:

Exploitative factories
Environmental destruction
Competition over limited resources

Exhausted both mentally and physically by a money-driven competitive society,
he made a radical decision:

“I’ll try living without using money.”

It’s a pretty unconventional idea, to say the least.

What’s more, what he wanted to prove with this experiment was not simply that

“Humans can survive without money.”

That wasn’t the point.

His real theme was this:

“Even without money, it’s possible to live a rich and fulfilling life.”

That instantly raises the difficulty level.

An extremely tough challenge.

Northern European winters are brutally cold—
on a completely different level from winters in Japan.

Mark’s “moneyless life” began, of all times, in winter.

Unsurprisingly, the beginning was a series of hardships.

But when spring and summer arrived, everything changed.

He describes it as
“feeling like heaven.”

How did this extreme lifestyle ultimately turn out?

I highly recommend picking up the book
and finding out for yourself.
